Shrinking Problem

My Roles: Game designer, Level Designer

I worked on an individual project for the Game Design Elective at university. I had to make a GDD and create a graybox for the level. In the GDD, I underlined the level design choices, game design systems, feedback loops and user experience.

Also, I made the story, characters, level design, game mechanics, gameplay loops, user experience, research and tested with the target audience. I adapted and balanced game mechanics and level difficulty based on user feedback and teachers. 

I started to read the Level Design Book to improve my level design skills. I used  illustration techniques when designing the sketch of the level (different signs, section through objects, define locations, show of critical path of the player, use of different symbols for game elements, sketch of different parts of the level). I made a graybox of relevant assets of different shapes and colors to show a different fucntion and easy to understand.

I created the level in Fortnite Creative as it had all my mechanics and would give me an advantage to focus on game design. In the graybox there are some glitches but during user testing there were no issues.
